@cshelley5658 I watched that video a few years ago. They wanted to discredit her....really bad. When a satellite image shows North Korea as a black outline amidst of sea of light, you know that there's a big problem here. There are so many reasons to know that North Korea is an horrific place to live, yet you center in on the one video and decide that THIS has to be the truth. You're either deluded or a liar.

@Sylvana Baptista You just watched this young woman tell of the horrifying life that North Koreans face and you still can't feel any gratitude for how good you have it. You're still filled with a gender envy. As for the "every" word that you find objectionable, I'm going to say that EVERY person, in the west, should hear this young woman....including YOU. More than just hear her, you should LISTEN and learn. But you won't. You'll still wallow in the group identitarianism that Yeonmi talked about that was at the genesis of the rot of North Korean life. I'm guilty because of the original sin of being born a man and I'd better acknowledge that. Conversely...you can't be guilty because of the group identity. What an horrific ideology. Maybe you should watch this video instead of just going to the comment section.

@Sylvana Baptista So you really think that Peterson doesn't realise that Yeonmi was raped. Of course he does but he was in a conversation with the victim and he wasn't just going to throw the word "rape" in her face. Also, I've read the book and the relationship WAS complex....oppressive yes, but she also felt gratitude for what the guy did for her. Her feelings, about the matter, was complex and Peterson wasn't going to beat her over the head with it. He'll leave that up to the cold and angry people.....like you seem to be. Of course men need sex. So do women. It's a prime directive. Without it, we don't exist. We've tried to control, what we see as the negative aspects of sex, through marriage and taboos against adultery, promiscuity and encouraging the formation of relationships based on love, respect and charity. We try but we're not always successful. And it is a basic animal instinct. It is at the heart of the survival of every animal species that we know and it can prove to manifest itself quite harshly in a lot of the species around us and INCLUDING us. Yeonmi lived a harsh reality and did what she must to survive and she often made the choice to do it. Peterson didn't want to shame her. Why would YOU?

@standin4life I have to repeat this. Don't be ashamed of it. Be GRATEFUL. The lack of gratitude is a major reason for the political chaos we have in this country. When you have a warm and dry home, lots of food in the fridge and cupboard....WHEN YOU HAVE A FRIDGE...and you still have no gratitude, you'll find yourself consumed with envy and resentment. It's that resentment that is causing the division in our country. Be grateful for every meal, for your life. That's how you do honour to those who don't have it.

@angelolacap9681 Do you know what, Angelo? You get it. If only more people looked at life the way that you do. Best wishes to you.

@T-aka-T His statement only pointed out the hypocrisy of the western "woke" student. They think that they're oppressed and denounce the system that they believe depresses them on a $600 IPhone. That's what cheapens this interview. That phone is worth more than what an average North Korean makes in almost 2 years. The latte that they're sipping on, while making their denouncement, would feed a North Korean family for almost a week. You're cheapening this interview and the plight of the North Koreans by your inane remark.

This has been such an uplifting discussion and yet so depressing. I'm really afraid for the future of my grandchildren.
