@BoloBouncer This was NOT a court decision. This is a provincially sanctioned governing body that does NOT decide on matters of law. That't what makes this so terrible. These are unelected government officials, deciding to take away a person's right to free speech which is guaranteed by The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Peterson now has to take this to court and if the Provincial court goes against him, he can still take it to the Canadian Supreme Court which must make a ruling based on the Charter of Rights. If he fails there, then we may as well throw that Charter out with the trash. It will be meaningless.

@moomoocowsly It's his right to express himself any way that he likes. It has nothing to do with how he says it or how many people dislike it. It's his right and is guaranteed in The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This isn't about whether the majority likes it or not. It's about the freedom to say what one likes without interference from the state or state sanctioned bureaucratic bodies.

@RedFeather36 Beautifully said.

@mitch_the_-itch I'd rather be a cat than a sheep. Herd me and I might scratch you. Us cats may not agree on everything but we all want to preserve our freedom to be cats. On that we all agree. Herding is for tyrants. Sheep respond well to tyrants. Cats don't.

Jordan Peterson has helped more people than the entire college of psychiatrists combined. I would think that this alone would irk some of them to the point of going after him. Envy is a powerful drug.

@guiltyifudnthavemnybuyinnocent I've already emailed that governing body and told them of my displeasure and why. I've also emailed my local federal AND provincial reps and did the same. Giving my support here is only PART of what I'm doing. I spent the day yesterday explaining it to my father who was unaware of what is happening in Canada. I know that a lot of other Canadians that are doing the same. Your intentions are suspect and we feel that you're one of those who support taking away our freedom of expression. So.....begone, TROLL.

Rocksteady246 The freedom of speech is guaranteed in the Canadian Bill of Rights and Freedoms. It doesn't matter if psychology is a social science of not, it doesn't over ride our freedoms. Our freedom of expression is enshrined in OUR Constitution which should NEVER be taken with a grain of salt. There is no basis for taking away a basic freedom and just because Dr Peterson is a recovering addict, to a drug that was legally prescribed, does NOT take away his right to free speech and expression. Neither does character assassination.

@samilucille1 Why? Who did he harass?

@@maxofficial2 "If you leave me, I'll kill myself" So what do you do? You stay because you don't want them to carry out that threat. WORSE.....if you do decide to leave, in spite of the risk of suicide, the law or your professional organisation, FORCES you to stay because leaving increases the risk of suicide and that would be "life ending". Using threats of this nature is emotional blackmail. It's manipulative and reprehensible.

@@maxofficial2 Who said what? What part of my comment are you referring to, specifically?

@mitch_the_-itch You sure are confused. That was 250 YEARS ago. We've become independent since then, specifically in 1867 which is almost 100 years after YOUR independence. The Loyalists were LONG dead by then. With that independence, we've enacted The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which is equivalent to your Bill of Rights, a part of the Constitution. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the freedom of speech for ALL Canadians. Unless you're speaking through a time machine, those freedom loving Canadians that stayed in the USA, died at least 200 years ago. Your attempt at levity is rather weak PLUS uninformed.

@mitch_the_-itch Emotional? LOL. I just informed you a little about our history and our Charter of Rights and that's emotional? It's facts. How can that be emotional? I did mock you a little because your original comment would have been relevant 200 years ago but Canada did not exist back then so logically neither did The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. That Charter guarantees the freedom of expression. There's no limits on that right in our Charter. "as limited as they were" "were" is irrelevant. Our freedom of speech is no longer bound by the tenets of British law of 200 years ago, just like American law isn't bound by British law 300 years ago. They've been abrogated since then by our Charter of Rights. Yes, we have fallen, just like you have in the states. You're only a step or two behind us, make no mistake about that. Instead of mocking us or laughing at us, you should be supporting us. You're in the same boat that we are. I might even suggest that you're worse off. The left has just arrested a past president and a future presidential candidate, ostensibly to stop him from running. At least we've not gone that far. LOL. Now I'm laughing at you and I shouldn't be. We're in this together and we should be supporting each other.
