@davemiller9570 That's a nothing question. Why not tell us what the problem is and explain why that problem can be blamed on Trump? Do that instead of some blanket statement that says nothing.

@ I've lost money as well, but a third of it has already recovered. Trump has called a 90 day hold on most tariffs, a week ago and it's showing on the markets. I started working in the late sixties at a large shoe company. In 1980, the government announced that there would be no more tariffs on shoe products. Our company gave us a day off, without pay, and provided buses to go to the capitol and protest the removal of those tariffs. Thousands of shoe workers showed up but to no avail. The tariffs were removed and it destroyed the shoe industry in the US and Canada. The factory that I worked at employed almost 1200 employees at the time and now it's been renovated into a senior retirement home. All kinds of tariffs were removed and manufacturing was devastated. My town of around 20,000 people was once a bustling town where people had money and everyone had jobs. Now there's empty factories and lots and the young can only get jobs stocking shelves and at fast food places. I think it ironic that 45 years ago, we were upset at the removal of tariffs and now we're upset that they're coming back.

I have no problem with the binder. It ensures that the answers will be accurate and I liked it when Kayleigh McEnany was asked a question and she'd say "I'm glad you asked that question" while opening the binder up. It meant an "Oh damn" moment for the reporter because they'd know that she'd have the information right there backed up by the press releases and news items contained within that binder. I'm not criticising Leavitt because she's amazing but everyone has their methods and as long as the answers are coming quickly and accurately, that's great and all we can ask for.

@marcthemeatman That's correct. That's a tax on the consumer....but there's another outcome. Some entrepreneur realises that he can make that product and then sell it to the consumer for, as an example, 25% LESS than a foreign producer. You'd buy a product for $75 over $100 wouldn't you? He has to hire workers and must pay them. Now, Americans are working, more and more of them because more American factories are opening up. Around 1980, the reverse happened. I worked at a large shoe factory and the government dropped all tariffs. Now the factory is a senior citizens home and the 1200 people that worked there work somewhere else. In fact, dropping those tariffs destroyed a very large and vibrant shoe industry in Canada and the US. The producing country ALWAYS reap the benefits of being the producer because the money goes to THAT country. If the country is the country that you live in, that's a good thing. If not, that money's gone forever.
