  1.  Shrim BEGIN?!  He's not defending the Confederate statues of flags. He defending the right to have and display them. I realise that's a difficult distinction to grasp for some people but try. It's not as hard as you think it is. Also, Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederate South, whose armies fought to maintain slavery, waved the Confederate flag. It was the flag of the South and the Democrats were the party that supported the south. So it's not an "if" they had slavery ties, they fought a war to keep slavery.
