@darthmalagus They won't have to work if they take on those jobs. All they have to do is repeat the same talking points. You don't have to be brilliant or hard working to do that. A clever parrot could do it.

@yummybubbles194 So proving that so called scientific journals were using extremely poor judgement when printing materials is the wrong thing to do? Of course, he used his position as a professor to get those papers published. They wouldn't publish papers from a plumber. To expose those journals, he had to use his credentials as a professor. To add, since when does the administration have to approve the content of an academic's written work? Wouldn't that administrator need the credentials to even judge whether the paper had merit? I'd say that Portland U had a bunch of bigwigs that didn't like to see their ideology mocked. I tried looking for material that said that Peter Boghossian believed in a flat earth. All I could find was a time where he attended a flat earth convention and tried to use reason AGAINST that idea and failed. He believes that you can't convince some people of erroneous beliefs through facts and reason because their beliefs are faith based and don't rely on facts OR reason. So you'll have to back up that claim with some evidence. That goes for the climate denial stuff and Occupy Wall Street. No point in even my looking for it if your first example, the flat earth, turned up nothing. Back up your claims.

@yummybubbles194 Except, this wasn't research. It was designed to expose the lack of integrity of some journals and academics. It would have been a little foolish to show your hand to those that you're trying to expose and DUH, of course they were angry that he exposed their lack of academic integrity. "You broke our rules by showing how gullible those who believe in our ideology can be. That makes us mad". I asked for evidence of the his positions on flat earth and climate science and you didn't provide it. Until you do, I have little to no confidence in those claims. Giving them a platform.....so what. How could I argue in favour of climate change if I don't acknowledge the argument that deniers make? It's illogical. Either show me the evidence of his positions or I'm dismissing your claims as nonsense.

@yummybubbles194 Except, you've made the claim that this professor somehow supports the flat earth idea but you won't give the evidence to back it up. In other words, you're not using one of the main tenets of critical thinking. You're not using evidence to back up your claims. Critical thinking, without facts, in this case Bogosian's views on certain topics, isn't critical thinking at all. It's making assumptions and then drawing conclusions from the assumptions that you can't even prove. As it stands, you're the last person that should be talking about critical thinking.
