  2. The real tell will be if they leave New York and are willing to take a reduced price for their homes. If property values go down, do you really think that they'll not blame the political environment for the loss in money? What about those who stay and see their property equity go down markedly? "My house is worth 30% less than last year" isn't going to make you happy. How long will the people of Portland live there and be afraid to go downtown? They will either leave OR finally vote for someone who can take away the conditions that are causing that fear. "All lives matters" should not be a death sentence. It should be the default. If all lives don't matter than neither do black lives. You get to pick and choose who's life matters and who's doesn't.
