Yes....these stories have been recurring periodically. However, I'm thinking that most people thought that these stories were aberrations, that it would be straightened out because it was so ridiculous. The fact that it was in the news was evidence that it would be addressed....and it never was because it was more than just the story. Couple that, with the normal human reaction, where people think that it's happening "over there" where the crazies live. It's so ludicrous that average, normal people just couldn't take it seriously. Incredibly, I know people who haven't heard about this particular story involving Lia Thomas. They're too busy working, raising their kids and trying to live around the Covid stuff to be following the news that carefully.

@diomedes7971 It's called "integrity" You either understand it and try to live by it or you don't. If enough people don't live by their values, you end up with this nonsense.

@diomedes7971 First of all...YOU don't know me. You have no idea what I've risked in my life. Second....my life doesn't revolve around money. It's about finding meaning in my life and standing up for what I believe in. I learned that from family members, who risked it all to fight the most vilified enemy of the 20th century. If they could risk and forfeit their lives to fight them, I can risk a bit of cash and a different future. Life isn't worth living if you don't stand up for what you believe in. We wouldn't have lived the best times in human history if it wasn't for those who gave everything to fight for that privilege.

@diomedes7971 Had I landed on the beaches of Normandy, there would have been nothing fearless about it. I would have been terrified. However, I'm not conflating any sacrifices that I might have made with those landing at Normandy. What I'm saying is that if those guys could sacrifice their lives and body parts, I should be able to sacrifice a paltry scholarship or anything else that isn't life threatening. Those soldiers set the benchmark, paid the ultimate sacrifice, so we could have the right to stand for our rights in other and more mundane matters. If anything, it's disrespectful to the memory of those lost lives, if you're too afraid of losing a job or a scholarship for standing up for what's right. That's true disrespect. It's like saying that their sacrifice doesn't matter. You're going to bend the knee to authoritarianism, anyway, so eff their sacrifice. The female athletes have 2 choices. Either stand up and say that this isn't fair and they won't take it......OR.....keep their mouth shut, do what they're told and, in the process, ruin women's college and high school sports. And if they lose their scholarship because the coach is filling his team with trans athletes, it's their own doing. Most scholarships are on a yearly basis and they could be kicked off the team and out of school the following year anyway. Keeping our mouths shut is how we got into this mess in the first place and this is only the start. Authoritarians will force you to do their bidding because that's what they do. If you don't stand up for yourself, no one else will and you'll reap exactly what you've sown.
