So the Ashanti held the person who abused his slave in high contempt. Mighty virtuous of them. We, here in America, hold people that abuse their pets or livestock in contempt as well. I'd say that this isn't the way for the Ashanti to rationalise slavery. I'm sure that we don't defend the Alabama slave owner who is kind to his slaves so why defend an Ashanti who was kind to his slaves. People aren't pets or livestock. That's the point...not how "nice" you were.
