If you've ever raised children, you'd know that children are filled with rage. The 2 year old will scream, hold his breath, try to beat you, whatever's necessary to get their way. Parents that try to placate that rage, raise those children to continue to use rage as their weapon to achieve their goals, usually but not always. Parents who refuse to capitulate to that rage, will raise those children, usually and not always, to realise that achievements are earned and not given by demand. If temper tantrums work as an 18 month child, it will continue to be used until that strategy fails or the child rages to the point of over the top violence. We're getting to that point now.

@deckard3755 I've been chipping away at a buddy of mine who was all in on the Trump derangement stuff. He'd believe anything so long as it held up his position. He'd lose his mind at the drop of a hat....but he's been thinking about things more and more as I bring in subtle points. As an example, he brought up that the right was using horse medicine to cure Covid. I told him that Ivermectin was also used to treat river blindness and scabies and that the original researchers won a Nobel prize in medicine. He actually looked it up...a first for him. I was confident and rational in my facts and even said that there was no real evidence to show the effectiveness of Ivermectin in treating Covid, one way or the other. I didn't even tell him that they were intentionally misrepresenting what Ivermectin was. Instead, I said that I didn't know why they're doing that and let him come to his own conclusion and he did. He now says that both sides are full of crap. Not a full out victory but a chink in his armour. I think that's how the tide will turn. Who wants to be seen as a lunatic? Not many of us, I'd say. Anyway, nice talking and have a good one.

@deckard3755 Anyone that watches his videos and can't see that he's not just talking about authoritarianism of the past but authoritarianism in general. He holds up examples, like the Gulag or the Holocaust, to show where any tyranny will take you. He doesn't browbeat you or scream at you. He tries to get you to think and feels that this will lead you to a place where authoritarianism becomes a plague to you. "Fix yourself before you ever attempt to fix the world." This is in complete opposition to the "turn them into activists" attitudes we see now. I believe that he's doing more good with his approach than just criticising or calling them out to their faces. The authoritarians are mad at him now. There's a reason for that. His stuff goes against everything that they stand for.

@deckard3755 You asked why he wasn't addressing the new authoritarianism in the west. I said that he's been addressing it all along by the way that he approaches the subject, using the Gulag and the Holocaust as examples where authoritarianism will lead you. It's an indirect approach. KInd of like leading a horse to water and then seeing if it will drink, to use a simile. Show them the face of totalitarianism and then allow to recognise it when it's happening to them. A different approach. A more subtle approach. Sometimes beating one over the head leads to people beating back and you gain nothing. He's fighting it by using logic, reasoning and facts from history. I should add that he's been extremely ill , almost died, and he's only now recovering. The last thing that he needs is the stress of dealing with woke lunatics. Not every soldier carries a gun.

@deckard3755 To me, everything he says, applies to what's happening today. It's why the left hates him so much. They know that he stands firmly against them by the tone of his lectures. It drives them crazy because he's so calm and rational. His demeanor is one of his biggest assets in fighting their insanity. Anyone, who's sitting on the fence on this, will be more likely to lean towards his way of thinking than towards their angry and bitter ranting. Everyone has their methods. Like I said....not all soldiers carry guns.
