@williammorris3815 It was to be for export but does that mean that thia oil could NEVER be re-purposed? "We can't touch it because.....we just can't". That's nonsensical. Also, cancelling that pipeline means that production was halted because they had no way to ship it. That means that there's less oil on the world market, a sure way to increase oil prices. Tens of thousands of people lost their job over this cancellation. It did more harm than good and the Democrats cancelled the pipeline over ideological reasons, not for the good of society.

@A_Jeff You're contradicting yourself. If Canada needed the pipeline to get their products to a better port, they've lost out. The pipeline, to a better port, doesn't exist, Biden stopped it. That means that they're not drilling for more because they can't get it to markets. Thousands of oil workers, in Alberta and Saskatchewan, are now sitting at home because the Keystone project was scrapped. These are workers that would have had high paying jobs but no pipeline so no point in drilling for oil. That also impacts all the peripheral workers. Truck drivers to get products to drilling sites. Secondary manufacturing to build the trucks and products needed to drill for the oil. Service industries lose high paying oil riggers as customers. This is a huge industry in western Canada. Then there's the oil refineries in Louisiana which would directly employ hundreds of people of high paying jobs. Then the dock workers who load the oil tankards and all those who service the refineries and docks. The pipeline will also need servicing which will keep more skilled workers in jobs. The oil industry is a labour intensive business which needs highly skilled workers who make great money. This isn't like a guy whittling whistles to sell at a fair. This is a big industry. There's a reason why the Arab states are so rich. We, in Canada and the US, could grab a piece of their pie but Biden and company don't want it. They just decide that they don't want it and with a stroke of the pen, thousands are out of work. It doesn't cost Biden or the Democrats one red cent but the ordinary worker, as usual, pays the price. That's what blows me away. The Democrats just don't care about the little guy.

@HgHg-yp6ft I'm talking about Biden and the Democrats, who claim that the pipeline cancellation was a good thing. I'm saying that whatever good that they've came up with is nothing to the bad that it's caused. Loss of jobs, higher oil prices, the loss of our oil reserves to lower the higher cost that THEY created and a greater dependence on foreign oil because we've went from the top oil producer to third in the world. I'm not even sure why you're having a problem with my comment. I'm agreeing with you. Why would you argue or nitpick?

@basictas-g5q It would be our oil, to do with as we please, including redirecting it for domestic markets and to keep our oil reserves at maximum levels. Every nation is better off producing its own energy. In fact, lack of energy resources is a major reason for poverty in 3rd world countries. People, in the 3rd world, are dying because of lack of resources and Biden wants to stifle our production. Besides, where did you get the 1 cent number from?

@A_Jeff Yes, it is being produced in Canada. Our economies are closely tied to one another. What's good for the US economy is also good for Canada. it's been that way since WW2. It's a lot easier, for the US, to negotiate oil deals with its closest economic ally than it would be to do so with other nations, who are further away and are ideologically and economically different. Also, most of those producers are American companies and the oil being shipped is owned by Americans. What do Canadians care who's buying the oil? It's a lot easier and cheaper to send and sell it next door than it is to send it all over the world. This is poor reasoning on your part. It makes no sense to conserve energy by using MORE energy to ship it further away, than it would be to ship it next door. It's like shopping for bananas 100 miles away over the store down the street. In the pipeline case, when there's a disaster, natural or man made, it makes more sense to have the potential to have access to local oil than to depend on foreign oil. It's how one prepares oneself for future emergencies.

@zachfreedom644 That would include common sense. No matter what, they'll use anything that we say against us and they'll use the most convoluted logic imaginable. They don't care about logic, truth or accuracy because they believe that there is no such thing as truth. That everything is about a "lived" experience, your truth. You can't argue with the ideologically possessed. You can only hope to get through to those you are sitting on the fence, who have the courage to ask questions and seek true answers.

@manw3bttcks So, isn't it fortunate, for the US, that the oil produced in Canada is heavy crude. The American top economic ally, who lives right next door and is willing to use refineries in the US, is producing EXACTLY what you say that America needs. That pipeline would have put that oil on American soil. Isn't that lucky? Apparently not. Better to buy it from the Arabs or even Venezuela, who Biden had even asked if they would produce more....the SAME heavy crude oil that America already had a deal for with Canada and cancelled. So now no pipeline, no refineries in Louisiana and no potential to siphon off the crude oil for our own needs and the stoppage of production in Canada. I still can't see the benefits to the economy by stopping the pipeline.
