@slaaneshnurgle3720 Are you seriously saying that the coordinated attack on Poland wasn't all that bad? That invading Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands, all neutral countries, is acceptable? There was no war until Hitler made a deal with Stalin and then invaded Poland. Hitler was quite open on his goals to expand Germany's borders. Had Germany stayed within it's own borders and built up a strong economy and a better life for Germans, there would not have been a war.

@PapaWheelie13 A lot of those people cheering were of German heritage. In fact, that was one of the rationalisations that Hitler used to invade Poland. He said he was liberating those of German descent, living in Poland, who were supposedly being oppressed by the Poles. 66,000 Poles were killed in that short war and over 100,000 wounded. I doubt any of them or their families were cheering the Germans.

@JKLZREFAN Once again, I will ask this. Why did Hitler invade neutral countries? You've been ignoring that question and I think it's an important one. I wonder if those Hitler peace initiatives included giving up those neutral countries, especially Norway, who had the iron that Germany wanted. Also, Hitler had quite often said that expanding east was a viable option for German growth.

"Third, yes they probably would have "given up" Norway for peace" Another probably. Apparently, you've never heard of the Battle of Britain. It was Germany who started the bombing raids, NOT the Allies. By the time that the Allies were bombing, Hitler wasn't in a good position to ask for peace. He was starting his solution for the Jews and he wasn't going to give up Poland and neither was Stalin. That Marshal Plan was some awful punishment.

@JKLZREFAN I know people that have seen the death camps. My uncle was imprisoned for a while in Westerbork, where every Dutch Jew went before being transferred to either Auschwitz or Bergen-Belsen, before he was transferred to a POW camp. He saw them being loaded into the cattle cars. People can go on about the numbers but what happened was horrific. Nuremberg

@JKLZREFAN He saw them being crammed in so tight that they couldn't sit down. They had to stand all the way to Poland. I've travelled on trains and I had a seat. That's the norm. They were crammed into cattle cars. This wasn't normal. In fact, why would they arrest every Jew they could find, even women and children, put them in a detention camp and them cram them into a cattle car to ship them off? That was horrific.

@JKLZREFAN They STARTED the war. They invaded Poland. And they invaded neutral countries. They had no right to do that. I'm of Dutch heritage and I know what the Nazis did in Holland. Holland had declared neutrality and the Germans didn't care. They invaded anyway and the Dutch suffered under their rule. My mother nearly starved to death, along with my grandmother, great grandfather, who was in his eighties and my mom's brother and 2 sisters. My dad's family had a small farm and they hid food from the Nazi soldiers. My uncle was arrested because he siphoned off meat from his butcher shop to give to the underground and others. The Dutch HATED the Nazis. HATE them to this day. They don't hate the Germans but they hate the Nazis with a passion. Every family has stories of dealing with the Nazi soldiers and none of them are good. They didn't have to invade Poland. Hitler wanted to and he thought that making a deal with Stalin would keep the Allies from trying to stop him as they would be worried that they might have to fight both Stalin and Hitler.....but the Allies didn't back down. Hitler knew the risks and he took them. That's on him.

@JKLZREFAN I've been to Holland on Liberation Day. They're unbelievable. On the 50th anniversary, surviving WW2 Canadian soldiers, were in parades and the streets were packed with cheering people. A friend of mine, who's father and uncle, Canadian soldiers, were killed in the war and the townspeople invited my friend and his daughter, paid their way over, so he could be there when they named a new footbridge in his father's and uncle's honour. Don't give me this BS about my not knowing every Dutchman. I know how the Dutch feel about the liberation. In fact, my dad came to Canada because Canadian soldiers stayed in the family barn while they did mop up operations in the area. Dad was 13 years old and that it was hero worship for him and the other kids he knew. More so than kids look up to athletes, today. You're fooling yourself if you think that the Dutch didn't hate the Nazis.

@JKLZREFAN You're defending the Nazis and pretending that they're the ones on the right side of history. I'm saying that they're not and providing evidence of a nation that we're not appreciative, one bit, on what the Nazis did to them. That heavily implies that they were NOT such good guys. You don't like to hear it, that's your problem. Also, if Hitler was only trying to unite all Germans, why did he take over ALL of Czechoslovakia. They're not Germans. The Allies allowed that but were assured that there would be no war. Remember Chamberlain? Why did the Germans take over as much of Poland as possible? Why not just the areas where the Germans lived? Why arrange to have Poland completely crushed? Again I ask, if Hitler wasn't an expansionist, why would he invade Denmark, Norway and Holland? 3 countries that he wasn't at war with and he invaded them. There is no way that you can rationalise it. Just like saying that standing, jam packed in cattle cars, for an 1100 km trip, which would have taken, at least, 15 hours, is normal. You're grasping at straws to hold onto your belief system.

@JKLZREFAN Why invade a neutral country? The Netherlands declared neutrality and the Germans invaded anyway. You can easily confirm this with a simple Google searcH. Why did they take all of Czechoslovakia when they were, supposedly, only reuniting the Sudeten Germans with Germany? You never answered those questions. Common knowledge and you've danced around it. It goes against international law to invade a country who is now a combatant. Your logic chastises Poland for taking supposed German lands and then says it's fine for Germans to do the same to the Netherlands. Rather inconsistent. As for Liberation Day, in the Netherlands, another simple Google search will confirm the celebrations. You're being intentionally obtuse.
