@Sue Wagner How in the world can you say that capitalism is failing us. The richest countries in the world are those with capitalist economies. Every socialist economy has failed or is it's people are living in extreme poverty. It took 10 years for Venezuela to go from a decently rich country to one where store shelves were empty and another 5 years to the point where people were actually hungry. The problem is that people don't fully understand our capitalist system. Our economy is capitalist but we have social programs, like education, transportation, health care and welfare for those who really need it. However, business runs itself and is dependent on the market for survival. As soon as the government starts to run the businesses like in fascism or nationalises businesses like in communism, you have a socialist economy. The government that runs the economy will eventually fail for one simple reason. It ignores the reason why specific business endeavours succeeds or fails. It produces without reason, to keep the people happy instead of trying to increase value for their work. It will quickly pervert the economic value system and things will ultimately fail, just like Venezuela, Cambodia, North Korea or the USSR.
