So, what you're saying is that the NSA would never lie or obfuscate in any way? That they'd NEVER use a tactic like this to cover what they're doing? In theory, you'd be correct. However, that an organisation is always upholding the highest of ethical standards is about as naive as it gets. If the NSA is spying on a private citizen, which is against the law except under specific conditions, would they just admit it? I rather doubt it. That anyone would be that trusting of any government agency is truly laughable. The only other reason, for a post like yours, would border on a conspiracy theory. That doesn't mean that Carlson is correct but to be that trusting to not even question the NSA, is bordering on being sycophantic.

@Jirodyne IF they did any one of those things, would they admit to it, or would they say that since one aspect of those accusations are false, that makes the entire line of accusations false. The accusations are all tied to one another, in affect making it one accusation in totality. Therefore, if any part of that narrative is false, it renders the entire thing false. Which brings me back to where I was before. If they did spy on him, they'd NEVER admit it. They'd deny every part of the accusatory narrative hoping to muddy the truth of what really happened. Even admitting to one aspect of it would be a scandalous admission. The only way for them to go is to give a blanket statement and deny the accusation, smugly saying that they weren't trying to get him off the air and avoid the spying aspect altogether. I once worked with a guy and he had spent years in and out of jail before he straightened his life around. He said the first rule of the guilty was simply to "Deny, deny and then deny again". You start out with a denial and you deny while the penitentiary door is being slammed shut behind you. If you don't think that they'd play these games, you're as naive as they come.

However, and THIS THE BIG ONE, if you're doing something wrong, you will twist the narrative so as to not be discovered. That's what LYING is. They obfuscate. They'll zero in on irrelevant details. They'll pretend that they don't understand the accusation. What is so damn hard to understand about lying? This is what Pool is trying to explain. He's saying that they'll use every trick in the book to keep you from knowing the truth. It's called LYING. That this has to be explained to you is astounding. We all know what they should be doing but are they really doing that. Have spy agencies ever been totally honest....EVER??? All this is an explanation of how they skirt around the truth to avoid admitting guilt and here you are saying that when the NSA said it was false that they MUST be talking about every accusation. Do you really believe that???? Maybe you'd better learn a little more about politics. They know how to lie and when caught they'll make any kind of excuse to explain how it wasn't really a lie. You're naive to think that they follow the rules of honesty.
