@recline69 It's not "their" area. It's the area of what happens to be there, including you, if you decide to go to that spot. NY City is also their area. So is Jackson, Mississippi. It's also "our" area as well as the north woods of Minnesota. Animals don't recognise property rights like we do. It's theirs to steal and protect when they can and as they see fit. I have every right to protect myself from them when I encounter them as they have the right to protect myself from me.

@occamsshavecream4541 The same thing happened in a small provincial park in the area where I live. There were herds of up 50 and 60 deer, stunted due to lack of food and crawling with ticks and other parasites. You couldn't go for a walk, in that park, without seeing dozens of them. Eventually, they decided to allow a group from a nearby native reservation to come in and cull the herds. They're not as common in that park anymore but the ones that you do see are bigger and healthier. That's what you want to see. The smartest thing that the Park officials have ever done.

@MercenaryMuse You prepare for the danger that exists in the environment that you're in. Big city folk join gangs (sound real safe) or try to live in some kind of gated community, believing that will keep them safe. That leaves the average person to the mercy of the criminal element. They then vote for DAs that are soft on crime because of their belief that they've made safe choices. That leaves the average person to the mercy of the criminal element. In the rural areas, we don't TRUST politicians so we like to protect ourselves from the dangers of OUR environment. Different threats call for different means of protection. I'd suggest voting for politicians that will protect you over those who would do you harm and we'll look after ourselves.
