That's not the point. Florida, state wide, has a declining crime rate and is at a 50 year low....for Florida. States, like New York and California have rising crime rates. It's not just where we've been or are now. It's where we are going. Success is built on improving a situation. Failure is built upon conditions worsening.

Not it's not. We have the right to create a society that mitigates unlawful harm but "feeling safe" is a myth. My daughter is terrified of spiders. She'll to into hysterics and will run in fear when she sees one. She doesn't feel safe. How am I going to legislate or dictate that she "feels safe" unless I kill ALL spiders? We have the right to confront and conquer our fears, if possible. That's it. "Feeling safe" is an impossibility.
