@DjWellDressedMan You're one of those guys that don't like freedom, huh. Perhaps a Fascist country, like China, is more your type. Or maybe North Korea. Since when is a teacher ranked up there with psychologists and doctors. Does their teaching certificate give them those skills? That's the first that I've heard of this. That sounds like a quick and cheaper way to practice psychology. A LOT cheaper. This is a medical and family issue. Not ONE teacher has ever visited my son's grave in the last 30 years and he died while in high school. I'm even going to say, with great confidence, that they haven't lost one minutes sleep over it. When they've gone through the hell that my wife and I have suffered over the last 30 years, then I'll give them the autonomy to act as a third parent. Until then, teach the kids how to read and write and how to do math without a calculator. That would be extremely useful to a child's future.

@zwicker5585 Just that. "Don't tell your parents about your new name and pronouns.". That's what this entire debate is about. Do you even know what's going on? A court made one ruling and the Saskatchewan PM made another. The entire debate is the problem. They want teachers to withhold information about their young children from their parents. Why make that ruling if it's not happening? Please pay attention.

This isn't about YOUR feelings. This is about a family dynamic that could be destroyed because you think that you have more rights than a parent concerning their children.

@zwicker5585 Where did I say "all the time"? I never said that ONCE. You've created a strawman argument. Changing your name and insisting that people use a whole new set of pronouns is a big deal. It could mean puberty blockers is next, and hormone drugs and maybe even surgeries. That's serious stuff. I know a person who died from complications of an tonsillectomy. This is a lot more serious. If my child throws up in class, they'd have called me. In fact, when my grand daughter became ill and threw up in the hall, they called me because they couldn't get in touch with my daughter or her husband. They do it already.....but for some reason, they can't do it when the child wants to secretly keep girls clothes at school, purchased by someone other than the parent, and wear those clothes. That's insane. Another thing, quite often depression isn't always about relationships. It's also a medical condition and if a child decides that the reason they're depressed is due to gender issues, that's a self diagnosis. Since when do patients diagnose themselves? And if the teacher is telling her that this is the answer, the teacher is practising medicine. That's unlawful AND irresponsibly reckless. To finish, all it takes is a phone call. If they can call me, as they have my emergency number, when my grand daughter threw up, they can inform the family about her new pronoun preferences. The implications are too serious to ignore.

@murraylagace695 No one truly knows anyone else. Quit turning this on the parents. They might know that their child is going through difficult times but they may not understand what it is that they're going through. As children grow older, they try to seek autonomy. It's part of growing up. It's also a part of growing up to make terrible mistakes and to be able to help their children through those mistakes is to know what they're going through and what those mistakes and decisions are. You're asking parents to be parents and then not helping them by not giving them complete information. "Let's keep this a secret from your mom and dad" used to be the line of abusive child predators. Now you want teachers to encourage kids to not trust their parents. That's the way that Stalin, Hitler and Mao ran their nations.

@DjiemYT You're being as judgemental as a Catholic priest. The parent must be guilty and they must confess their guilt or they'll not be told what their child is doing. All a child has to say that they're uncomfortable talking to their parents about sex (most kids are) and the parents are guilty of something that they're not even aware of. What a great way to teach our kids. Stalin would have been proud.

@zwicker5585 I had 38 kids in my class in grade 8. He was the school principal and we had grades 7 and 8 in the same class. He was able to do it then. All teachers had to. More and more people ARE homeschooling but A) a lot of parents have to work and B) the left isn't all that happy about parents choosing that option. They went apoplectic over school choice, like in charter schools. They have no business talking to kids about sexual matters on an intimate level. THAT'S called a relationship. They're responsible for the welfare of the kids while they're in school.....not 24/7.

@@matcaterina If the child is to go on that school field trip, the parent MUST sign the waver or the child doesn't go. PERIOD. I've signed enough of them to know this. As for forcing teachers to out the kids, no one is even asking for this. Everyone at the school already knows. They want those teachers to also tell their parents. It's not that big a deal for little Johnny that his classmate might want to change his name from Bob to Barbie but it's HUGE for the parents. Parents are ultimately responsible for their child's well being, no one else and to withhold evidence is preventing parents from doing their job.
