The military/industrial complex is a reason for the regime change but another one is that there are those who believe that naively believe that this is the moral obligation of the US to try and help the people of those countries, in spite of the fact that these people don't want that help. Most of the factions in these countries are just fighting for power for themselves. They'll take the help to get that power and then become exactly what we've fought so hard to displace. It's so easy to feel terrible about what is going on in Venezuela right now and want to do everything in our power to help them. However, until the people of Venezuela want to really help their own country to prosper and not just keep making the same mistakes, we're wasting our time and money getting involved. They're like the alcoholic or drug addict who can't be helped until they truly want to help themselves. We can't do it for them, no matter how tempting that might be.
