They just shot YOU.....the messenger. Instead of hearing the message, evaluating what your message said and then formulating a coherent conclusion on what to do about it, they shot the proverbial messenger. They're angry because they know that the message can only lead to one conclusion. DON'T VOTE DEMOCRAT THIS FALL. Better to shoot you than do that. I had the same experience having a few beers at my favourite bar the other night. I said something that made sense, about oil prices, and then had 2 guys yell at me for 15 minutes. I went to the bathroom and sat at the bar instead of returning to my table. The bartenders both laughed and said that it took me long enough to escape those clowns. All I could do was laugh with them and explain that I'm a pretty patient guy.

@drewpooters62 I live in a small town and I'm a retired bartender/bouncer. I built myself a reputation for being rather "insistent" about maintaining a certain level of behaviour. In other words, these guys knew me and weren't about to take a swing at me. Also both bartenders are close friends, one calls me Uncle Jack and I've travelled all over the Caribbean with the other one. That's why they were laughing about it. Things were rather stacked in my favour. All because I said that increased production would drive down prices and this was basic economics. Apparently, socialists don't believe that economics is a science.
