They never paid that all debt back either, When the USSR collapsed the remainder of that debt was re-issued to Boris Yeltsin's government and they paid back not even 10% of what was outstanding from Soviet times.Indeed as you say, the Soviet Union was close to being Kaput until lend lease came along. TIK History channel has done some excellent presentations this matter.

Yea the Soviets got bogged down in Afghanistan for 10 years and lost 15,000, and that was enough for Soviet society - the mothers and grandmothers - having enough of the war and actually piping up about it. Fast forward to decrepit Russia and with maybe 300,000 lost in a couple of years & no ones piping up too much. Just pathetic video appeals to Putin about treating their husbands & sons better so they can fight the war better and kill more Ukrainians. The other big difference was, back in the Soviet days no one believed the BS the Kremlin put out on state TV, now it's the opposite and the stupid Russians believe it as gospel truth!! It's totally nuts. "Backwards Russia".....lol

On Mr Horsfall's opint about BOJO, I agree 100%, - it's why he has pubs here named after him - the scandals and malarkey back in the UK rally were not relevant here, he was out on the front foot, at least a month before the Americans got on board with their Javelins, organising MANPADS from wherever he could source them with allies in Europe. - interestingly, we already had Stingers here, that got shipped, ironically, on Trumps watch - contrast with Obama who refused any "lethal aid" when we asked in 2014, he screwed us bad. Robin mentioned that and it's totally on the money - I would go so far as to say President Obama is guilty of criminal neglect. Why, people may ask ? He was just as responsible for making the Budapest memorandum "toilet paper" as much as Tsar Putin did.
