@watch3r1 ok bad wording, He always was an post Soviet advocate for the return of Crimea to ruZzia, the 2014 invasion revealed his crass imperialism posthumously. A direct quote form Solzhelnitsyn the Imperialist - “Not the whole of Ukraine in its current formal Soviet borders is indeed Ukraine. Some regions … clearly lean more towards Russia. As for Crimea, Khrushchev’s decision to hand it over to Ukraine was totally arbitrary.” - Totally ignoring the Belovezha accords of 1991, that agreed on the borders as is. Same for Budapest 1994 which re-iterated the borders as agreed. The ruzzian President's signature was on both documents. Live and learn. 🙃

Yea, but that's where you can do an entire show, the pervasive and corrosive effect of Russo-centrism in academia is a serious issue that goes back a century when academic escapee's from the Bolsheviks came to Western Universities. They were anti-communist, but not necessarily, anti-Russian Imperialism. Solzhelnnitsyn is a textbook example, anti-Soviet, but when Russia invaded Ukraine and took Crimea, he was revealed posthumously, to be a Russian Imperialist of the most crass from (He always advocated for the "return" of Crimea). Google this - "Do Svidaniya to Russo-centrism Western schools start decolonizing Eastern Europe studies". Mearsheimer is the tip of the iceberg and most well known in that respect that evolved from this insidious effect of Russo-centric narratives a long time ago. The most insidious and dangerous of these "Mearsheimer" types that is not well knwn is Samuel Charap, he is on the advisory team for NatSec Advisor Jake Sullivan and surely poisons his ear with the Russo-centric nonsense that Mearsheimer peddles.

Yea but why has the Kiss logo never been a problem ? the double SS's in Kiss are EXACTLY like the Nazi SS font.

@firasbouhamdan9917 Yea exactly, He was anti-Soviet communism, but not anti-Russian empire.

@jaarneal Well said, It seems none of his thesis matches actual demonstrated reality. If you go to the wikipedia page "List of Wars Involving Russia", there's hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of wars pre-1949. I'd love tp put it to Mearsheimer, "Which of those several hundred wars pre-1949 was 'provoked' by 'NATO expansion', keeping in mind, Stalin started WW2 as an Axis Allie by invading Poland". I think he sticks to his 'bent guns' because admitting he was wrong is bad for his academic career, so he continues to peddle his BS. Samuel Charap is a "Mearsheimer" type of thinker and unfortunately he is on the advisory team for Jake Sullivan, poisoning his ear with the same nonsense.
