this behaviour is totally reasonable since they can't rewind time to undo their mistakes. i mean what can they do other than doubling down their delusion and continue their mistakes? do you expect them to remain sober and live their remaining life miserably? they can only cope by keeping or increase their demands to lie to themselves thinking that no men can meet their "high quality" standards and they're still valuable for the rest of their life.
