Besides, when you're 18 and idealistic you're an easy target for authoritarian forces to draw their attention to and lead them in a nationalist direction...Nationalist authoritarians gives mislead kids a "cause".... Because youth has not been taught how to think for themselves...questioning authority -least of all local religious authority and the man made construct of nationalism and flags... It was as easy for the pope in Rome to lure youth into becoming killers for Christ 1000 years ago as it is to lure punk kids into some weird notions of patriotism. Specially after a lifetime of Americana indoctrination.
