When the Ottoman Empire was at it's height, they had something that Christian Europe did not have: Freedom of religion! That's why you could find both Jews, Muslims and Christians in Palestine in 1946 when Stern and Irgun intensified their terror tactics, destroying 400 villages and towns, driving over 700 000 people away from their homes. And they didn't differentiate between Christian Palestinians from Muslim Palestinians. You can equate this with the Romans behavior after the uprising in 70 AD when they burned the Temple and drove all Jews out of Jerusalem...
