  4. None or very few Muslims take their Koran literally. People are different. And if you have had discussions with Christians and Muslims of diverse backgrounds, you will soon realize that there are very few who agrees on everything or even anything. There are 41 000 different Christian denominations - or sects as I like to call them. There are 73 different sects or denominations divided between the 5 main sects in Islam: Sunni, Shia, Ahmadiyya, Wahhabism and Sufi.  https://www.alislam.org/library/73divisions/73-09.html So both Sam Harris and Bill Maher are wrong, claiming that all Muslims follow their Koran literally (they would be studying science, and traveled, and done inner Jihad, and given to charity). If they only did. They would be seeking knowledge, and not ignorance.They would strive to become better persons instead of imposing a fake sexual purity on others and then do rapes themselves in the name of Allah and call for violent jihad against all infidels. What Maher seem to think that only head cutters, wife beaters, child molesters, and suicide bombers are "true Muslims"... And if one should take an educated assumption from the Koran, or Mohammed and his own views, I'm sure he'd rather spend time with a pacifist drunken scholar than with an insane suicide bomber who beheads writers and aide workers in his spare time... However, that is just speculations. We do not know the mentality of the Dark Ages compared to today.  But what we do know, is that self proclaimed Islamists want to take Islam and the world back to a Christian dominionist style world pre - renaissance. You know, pre -science, and pre enlightenment times...
