Please! The Greeks had little to do with the actual creation of the American "democracy".
The Iroquois and the old pirates did.
The Iroquois practiced both elections and had a system of confederacy. Something that Ben Franklin took note of while he stayed with them.
The notion of "one man, one vote" stems also from how the pirates ran their ships... Both radical ideas in the eyes of Europeans who still lived under a monarchic system where blind allegiance to anyone in power was a given...Well...more or less. What the colonists saw was how democracy worked in practice. Both among the "savages" whose land and resources they coveted, but also in the pirate tales from a half a century earlier. What would be most lucrative for a sailor anno 1705? Working under slave like conditions under a dictatorial rule like in the English navy for crumbs, or have your own voice and fair share of the loot from raids with a vote to trash a captain who didn't work in the interest of the crew?
I think that the answer is easy for many of us.
But the Creeks...Oh well. Perhaps the democratic republic of white land grabbers in the New World has taken something from both Rome and Greece: The blatant corruption.
What you forgot was to include Ostracism into your system. A fine regulatory rule to stop one man or a faction from getting too much power. Getting rid of them for such and such years....
Another thing that was flawed in your system; Women couldn't vote, and slavery.
What George Carlin described as being stunningly full of bullshit.
I am sure that both Plato and Socrates are head balming too. Just a look at the clowns that Drumpf, Sarah Palin, Gohmert, Santorum, Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, the Clintons, and Bachmann embodies together with all the sleazy money keeping them as puppets embodies. That crowd would be enough for the old Helenians to upchuck. Same goes for the Iroquois.
Plato was never in favor of a pure democracy however.
The Iroquois proved him wrong, and white Christian settlers proved him right.

How about Mt. Rushmore?
How about putting up faces of Geronimo, Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph, and Quanah Parker to replace or ad to the collection?
If one need to be reminded of history, put the villains in a museum.
One does not have statues of Nazi war criminals in Germany. In fact, flying a nazi flag in public is forbidden.
There are however museums all over as reminders of the past.
Same thing should go for statues of land grabbers and genocidal slave owners.
What has happened at Standing Rock is far more concerning than what happens to a bunch of statues commemorating characters who upheld a racist system if you want to put some perspective on it.
What these statues symbolises however has been a symptomatic problem ever since Columbus set his stinking, unwashed feet ashore San Salvador.
The notion of only Europeans as culture bearers and builders, entitled to rape, steal and murder their way to wealth and glory in history.
There's a range of examples in history where villains has been elevated almost to sainthood, while characters not half bad has been vilified. These statues coming down are just a few examples.
As far as India goes, it seems that India has colonized England in some ways.
India has influenced both writers, artists and musicians in the west for almost half a century if not more.
Compared to India, Britain is a fart in a history going back 6000 years, having survived waves after waves of cultural influence, wars, genocides, religion, arts, philosophy and science. However, Indian nationalism as far as I'm concerned is just as disgusting as any other form of nationalism.
USA cannot be compared to India in this perspective of History.
These statues represents a whole different mindset.
