  2. Brian Mason I'm just referring to the source that everybody either claims to own, or condemns. Ever read the Q'uran before? Let's have a contest based on pure unbias fundaments: I'm an Atheist. I have read both the bible and the Q'uran. All in all, no where does the bible promote religious tolerance, women's rights, or science. The Q'uran is a bit different matter. This despite the fact that Mohammed borrowed ALL of his "divine authority" based on Christianity and Judaism. He claims as intimate knowledge of the Angel Gabriel as Paul claims of such to Jesus. Google: "Ilm - Knowledge in Islam". Also "no compulsion in religion" Easy task. But I'll help you on your way, and give you one direct quote from the Q'uran that these Muslims claim to defend by killing people who use their brains to think for themselves instead of stuffing their heads with human garbage packet in a religious context. "Say, 'The truth is from your Lord': Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it):......(The Noble Quran, 18:29)" As far as the violent parts, they are much equally repulsing, and sort of bleaks the alleged noble intentions of the ideologies with the same source. When people refer to "kill the infidels, the Jews and -Christians where ever you can find them", and think that this is universal and goes for all time, they are misinformed. From what I gather from the text is that Mohammed was referring to specific people who fought against him, and were Christians and Jews. It would be quite dumb of him to go on a religious war against the same dogmas that made HIS religious foundations. Another part, Mohammed was human. With human weaknesses. Despite the notion of Muslims who think he was infallible and the most perfect human ever lived. If one are human, one are prone to human weaknesses. That's a fallacy that all religious people make. They also regard Jesus as one of the most important prophets in Islam. Christians claim Jesus is god, and take offence when people don't. Even from a religion that still regards him as a prophet. Christians still feels that it's an attack on their faith if someone doesn't buy their bile. There's plenty to be said about conquerors who sailed under both Christianity and Islam. Not much can be said to be good. A few rulers and societies did have some sort of success. Not so much in Europe, as in Moorish Spain. Where both Christians, Jews, and Muslims lived side by side, and the university in Cordoba promoted science. Something that obviously posed a threat to Christians in Rome who sought complete religious dictatorship in every aspect of ones lives. P.S. the weakness in every religion is when an alleged omnipotent divine power need people to commit violence to get "his" point across instead of showing up himself. P.P.S. Jesus was NOT a dead Jew on a stick. He became an old dead Jew and Buddhist pot head in Srinagar, India 50 years after the alleged crucifixion.
