These mytholical births always seem to have a sense of children's fairy tales behind them. Both Jesus and Gautama...

Buddha said: "Don't worship idols, or enjoy abundancy. Life is suffering and pain". Buddhists goes ahead and worships Buddha statues and fight for more power and bling. What a contradictory concept. It's almost as if Buddhists have more in common with Muslims and Christians than you like to appreciate. The messiah myth. Might as well joust around with Ganesha.

@minhnguyenphanhoang4193 Buddhists do plenty of "things", they're "not supposed" to do. Everyone has their own unique path - though interwtined with others. Ever been to Thailand, Vietnam, or Saudi Arabia? Where do you think they serve alcohol?

@thebestevertherewas Does "inner peace" include laughter, gallows humor, biting irony, sarcasm and cynisism? I used to be buddhist on the philosophical and intellectual level in my younger years. Until I read "Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse in a drunken state of mind some time in 1997, and started questioning everything. My own sanity. Including yours.... as I wrote my 2nd poetry collection and wondered what the hell it was all for. Other than having another drink. Now, I'm a full time pot smoker, and norse wizard with a pathfinder ring.

@tsurugi5 Buddhists put up statues of him for worship and blessings. And still with no sense of humor.

@ I'm sure that his family was well taken care of. Siddartha was a prince and lived in wealth.

@BlueWoWTaylan Ah yes. These religious figures and foundrs of new religions have a tendency to be deadbeat dads and have no sense off humor.

@Neuro-anthology You're not alone in having read Siddhartha several times mey good fella. Many years has gone by since then. Though I never stated that a book has caused my suffering. I think you misread my words. Willfully our out of ignorance? There has been many authors, preachers and teachers. As a traveler and cosmonaut myself, I have come to the conclusion that it was always my own dead grandfather who was the best teacher - reading everything with a critical eye and not putting literary role models on pedestals. Not even myself :-) I challenge anyone who claim that spiritual awakening - kundalini shakti is a walk in the park, with no pain, I have a golden bridge to sell to. Gautama was still a deadbeat dad with no sense of humor (like my own deadbeat and diseased dad who sold his only begotten son under the bridge).
