  1. Ōkami-san We have private clinics in Norway too. And the private clinics seem to bed doing OK. And if having to choose between paying 50 000 dollars for an appendix and get one for free just as quick, people will go for the free. I have not been to Australia, and couldn't tell you much about their health care system except for they have a public healthcare system that doesn't exclude 50 million people like in USA before "Obamacare".  People do not die from lack of access to a doctor in Australia. People in USA do. Thousands of Americans die every year due to little or no access to a proper healthcare system that also covers "deadbeats" who lost their jobs to a Chinese sweatshop worker.  USA ranks 37 in the world in healthcare. Just around "commie" Cuba! And that is a country that had to endure a draconian blockade thanks to USA.  When I needed a doctor in England, I didn't have to pay a dime in doctors fee. And when I needed medicine, drugs was subsidised. See, I'm a veteran. And has gone through hard times at times, even in my travels. And when living and working in England, my mandatory National Insurance covered me completely for the fraction of what insurance would cost in USA. From what I hear, Americans go to Canada to get subsidised medicine for the fraction of the cost in USA (where the industry itself dictates the prices after monopolizing the market. That's why so many drug companies are against legalization of marijuana. they donæt want you to be able to grow your own medicine, and wants you addicted to theirs.  What I find disturbing is that Americans always have money for another war, but can't afford feeding millions of poor kids whose parents lost their jobs thanks to crony capitalism and deregulation. They can afford giving Wall Street 700  billion dollars over night, but can't afford "Meals on Wheels" for the elderly.  It's beside the point. HEALTH is not a commodity to be traded with or speculated on by the "free market"... And the biggest money hoarders are still Capitalist Americans. Just look at how your robber barons have bought your politicians to keep you in line and obedient.  P.S, Japan has a socialist healthcare system. USA is the only industrialized country that does NOT have a public healthcare system that covers more than veterans and politicians and public workers.

  4. Ōkami-san Norway has become a multicultural society the last 40 years. And no. We do NOT have "no go-zones" nor do we have polar beers roaming the streets. No. We do not invade other countries without reason...without being told to first by "Big Brother" USA. We partook in Yugoslavia (I was there), we participated in Afghanistan after crusader Bush gave us his "weighty reasons". We sent a non-combat force to Iraq, "helping" building up a country that US bombs have destroyed. So we just buy into OTHER countries phony reasons to go to war.  I think most of us can read and write. But I am concerned about the cognitive abilities of those who think they are for freedom when they get their poker, their segway's and criminalized beggars from Romania and junkies without an income. "You want to know what the American dream is? Getting on disability and playing video games while watching pop culture on your smart phone." Apparently the ambitions have dropped a bit since the jobs started disappearing to China where they produce their digital gadgets that their government can spy on them with. You are right. And I indicated that. Private interests have taken over your government on all levels, and you have an insane religious right to have a government to legislate morality based on bronze age myths and young earth creationism.  I went to high school in Kansas 25 years ago. As much as I found several things disturbing in the one whore village I went to school in, I don't  think they have reached the level of insanity I see and hear about today.  If you are concerned about the illiterate freeloaders, you should take a look at the republican states. They give the least to DC, and takes the most.  We can assert that conservative states live on the backs on liberal states.  The "golddiggers from Mexico" thing sounds like a jingo to dehumanize poor people who are seeking a better future for themselves like your own ancestors did. But the "golddiggers" today don't get free land like your own ancestors did when the process of auto-genocide was in full swing in the 1800s. My own countrymen are not the hardest working people I know. Effective, perhaps yes, in comparison to the Irish and the Greeks at least (I have lived and worked both places). And whatever service job there is, Swedes are taking more and more over that market. To me, it seems like many of my countrymen have an aversion of serving others. We have an oil fund that is growing by the minute. Our government have done some seedy investments (red gambling on stocks and bonds with Wall Street).. But that blood money is going to the citizens unless our RW government sells out all assets on the name of the "free market".. Our RW government has given tax cuts to millionaires, billionaires and their heirs, and want the partially disabled to start working and get taxed to cover those tax cuts. We have gotten ourselves a government that wants to imitate Reaganomics.  We have some nationalists who think that all problems are caused by poor people from countries USA has been to war with, and think that refugees from those wars are all freeloaders coming to dig into the Norwegian (White privilege) of getting a govt. check and free healthcare on our dime.  They don't see causations. Sometimes I wonder if the know what even correlations mean.  Well... It certainly seems that the "free market" is dictating your health care policies. A gift that GWB gave them in 2001. Corporations have bought your government to keep you in line and have cheap, obedient and expendable workers. And they give you cheap gadgets, cheap entertainment and junk food to go. When I read American commentators here, or some RW blog, I immediately come to think of both Idocracy, 1984 and Hunger Games at the same time. Should I show you my empathy, or should I let myself be entertained when  you vote yourself and your democracy out of existence?

  5. Ōkami-san Oslo is very multicultural.  "No go zones" in England? Seriously? Never heard of them. And I lived in England myself. Don't buy into the cheap lies from propagandists on FOX. You talk about immigration. IF you're an American, your entire country is built on immigrants. And the minorities you are so busy demonizing, well...at least African Americans built entire fortunes in the South on their whipped backs. In the meantime, Christian Europeans could have time to commit auto-genocide. So don't talk about "welfare ghettos" as if your minorites are freeloaders and rich Europeans have built their entire fortunes by their two empty hands. Remember that European Americans whom are against immigration of the brown people they have bombed, have little mora ground to whine about said immigration. Specially when you have more than 150 military basis around the world, have been involved with at least 10 major wars since 1776,  and have dropped enough bombs to measure up to the rest of the world combined the last 50 years. If you prioritized the Commons instead of Pentagon, and subsidised oil magnats, and started repeating the success of FDR, I think yoü'll be alright.  Violence and crime is not linked to ethnicity, but to poverty. And when you have a country where 1% owns more than half the country, and 90% of the bottom owns less than 1% and you have 50 million under the poverty line, something has got to give.  It seems that your "American Revolution" is an ongoing process unless you want to drown yourself in a dystopian society described by contemporary writers with good fantasy. In UAE they live fat off their oil have cheap slave labour from Pakistan and Bangladesh, and have no human or democratic rights.¨ As long as we keep our oil fortune away from politicians who wants to sell it cheap to foreign interests, and spend it on tax breaks to the rich, we'll be fine We have more than half a trillion dollars in an oil fund established by our social democratic government. It comes from prioritizing the Commons ahead of Capitalism and the profits of a few. We still have our millionaires and billionaires. And they whine just as much as yours.  Now, if you'll excuse me. I'm watching Office Space. http://www.swefilmer.com/office-space-1999/office-space-1999-video_80f587d2c.html Gives me "happy memories" from working ten years abroad for multinational IT companies in Ireland. Northern Ireland, England, Malta and Greece. Now, I'm out of it. I'm not in the rat race anymore for peanuts and bananas....

  8. Ōkami-san You know when you live in a monocultural world when you can find Starbucks and McDonald's in Tibet, Kenya and Brazil... You say you want "less government" and not "more government"... Another deal. Your corporations owns your government. The Koch brothers owns the entire republican party of lunatics. The only reason why you have had opportunity are progressive policies based on common welfare, not a couple of bootstraps and the generosity of some corporate sugar daddies. What you have in USA today, is maximum freedom for the Kochs and Wall Street, while your own civil rights are shrinking.  And on top of that, you have religious zealots who insists that George Washington and the rest were Jesus freaks who sought a government where narrow Christian dogmas shall legislate morality. You do not have a real democracy anymore run by the people for the people. If you did,  GOP would have been in prison since Bush/Cheney for selling out the American people for war, and profit...And they would have been handed over to Hague. IF you had a real democracy, BP would have gotten the corporate death penalty and the CEOs also in prison. You don't get freedom by giving corporations a blank check to screw things up and not take responsibility for it. You don't get freedom when poverty and disenfranchisement and criminalisation to realize your full potential. Public healthcare. Public education. Full stomach. Safe kids in their own homes. People having a living wage. People having a safe job, and rights on the workplace.  You don't have freedom when you are being fired for talking about unions in a workplace. (I have worked for American corporations who have fired people for mentioning a union in both Ireland and Greece).  A justice dept. not steeped in old fashion Fascism where the rich go free, and a poor sucker from a poor neighbourhood is being used for years as cheap labour in a private prison for a bag of weed. You don't have freedom when kids go to jail for pot, while banks like HSBC hardly get a slap on the wrist for white washing billions of drug money AND "terror money".... Besides. If you can choose your own government, you can also throw it. Your government is owned by corporations. Why? Because "freedom".... I suggest you look up ALEC, where your corporations are making their own laws, and install a mindless puppet in office to sign it.
