  1. You are both right. The cold war started almost immediately after WW2 when CIA drafted a bunch of "ex." Nazis for intelligence gathering. Obviously, they never stopped being Nazis and managed to influence American Intelligence with their own ideology. Look at all the Fascist dictators who was propped up by "School of Americas" in the 50s in Latin America, ran by CIA. The Red Scare reached peak heights during the era of McCartthyism in the 50's when political persecution became the norm.
