What we do, or at least used to do in Norway was to sell our text books directly to other students. At our own prizes. We'd compete with the book chain right outside their shop! This was common at least in high school, where we had to buy our books before each year. So when the same text books was used year after year, we'd set up sales stands right outside the bookstore in Oslo city centre and sell our used stuff to newcomers. After the last year of graduation, we could sell off our old stuff, keep the cash and get drunk for them. Either that, or buy books for college.
