  4. TC Sam I graduated in 1990. Some of the most telling examples of the chep nationalistic jingoism was when the Am. His teacher (who was also the basketball coach) was going to explain the difference between the political systems in Soviet and USA. (Remember, this was the year when the Berlin Wall fell, China had it's Tiananmen square massacre, my mother on a business trip to China only a month before that event), and I applied for a student visa to USA where I had to declare that I have never been a member of the communist party. He explain it in this way: "In Soviet, you can choose between commie A and commie B", he said, in comparison to USA where you can basically choose between a democrat and a republican. Only a 6 year later, only 2 parties were allowed a platform in the TV debates, and League of Women Voters declined to moderate these debates in the future. The irony here, is that in Soviet, you could choose between commie A and B, while in USA your only liable options are corporatist A or corporatist B. But you CAN choose between 47 cereals, and 150 channels on TV. This is the same teacher who didn't know the Christmas story from the trenches of WW1 where the soldiers from both sides had a self imposed ceasefire and celebrated Christmas together instead of shooting it each other.   The Am. Pol teacher switched from Polish Jokes to Norwegian jokes just in my "honor", and had to tell one in class every time I was there. He once told he had a Nazi flag at home he'd bring to school. I told him in class that if he dared, I'd put the shit on fire. He did not bring that symbol of hate to school as long as I was there. He spent the most part of the year pissing me off, giving me average grade despite the fact that I did do a better job than most in that class. And then you had the morons on the football team. I was a kicker and left defensive end/Right guard and did get to see what has inspired those high school movies throughout the 80's in real life. The only thing I regret was that I waited to the end of the year before I made one of the captains on that football team blead. I should have done it hard, and blunt in the beginning. From what I hear, my old nemesis participated in the first Gulf war. I partook in the Bosnian war 2 years later.  So as you can see, I'm not very fond of USA or it's disgusting boasting. I was before I actually got to experience this "superior culture". After, not so much. I don't like the mentality, I don't like your politics, even though I find as hilarious as a George Carlin standup show, your politics is leading you on a slippery slope that can either end up in a Hunger Games like society, or an Idiocracy. Or a mix of both. Stupid people waving the flag are easier to control, and sending into war.  I'm also aware of the difference between the urban areas and the rural areas.  One funny episode in NYC, some locality asked us where we were all from, and my accent was in fact influenced by Kansas. I sounded like a bloody redneck when I spoke.  Fortunately, I've rid myself of that nauseating accent, and learned both Scottish, different Irish accents, and the pure Oxford English, depending on where I am and who I speak to. I've lived in Ireland 5 years altogether, and consider it my 2nd country despite their economic policies resembles USA in many ways.
