After being super healthy all his life, my husband’s health starting going downhill after he turned 66. First, he had heart surgery. Next, he was found to have five aneurysms - abdominal, two iliac and one behind each knee. He had to have three of the repaired two years ago. Also two years ago, he was diagnosed with cancer. He’s still battling it. I don’t know what we would have done without Medicare and a Supplement. His medical bills have probably totaled about $400,000 so far. His weekly chemo costs about $1200 each treatment. If his latest round of chemo doesn’t work, he’s facing a surgery that will cost probably $60,000-$70,000+. I’m scared to death about what may happen. If they make it so Medicare supplement providers don’t have to accept anyone or they can kick someone off any time they want, or can raise our premiums as much as they want, we will lose everything trying to pay his medical costs.
