  1. My biggest struggle is changing between the modes in a fluid manner. It still feels clumsy to me trying to always pay attention to my mode and being mindful of it before I start typing anything. This is especially true for saving files. As a frequent saver, I have Ctrl+S so hard-wired into my brain from hitting it billions of times in my life, and it doesn't feel natural to change modes and :w instead. I am sure I will learn to do it naturally with time and repetition, but for right now, the struggle is real. One small tip that worked for me to help build muscle memory for movement with hjkl is to map them into other applications and remove the bindings for the arrow keys.
