  1. I abandoned GUI music players years ago. I wrote a custom MPD widget for waybar and use ncmcpp/mpc for the occasional management of playlists, but don't even remember why I ever used a full-blown graphical interface for music. I did used to use Guayadeque, but it was sadly discontinued.

  2. mpv is definitely the best choice for video, though I use mpd paired with ncmpcpp as a client for audio. It is another solid choice in the same spirit as cmus.
