  1. It will be ignored like every other existing solution to this same problem. People developing apps simply choose to use their own way of providing configuration, and don't use anything existing. I don't even use a DE, and the struggle is still real with terminal applications. Things like .xprofile and and .xresources have existed for decades, yet are ignored by all but a few applications. This means even getting uniform colors in a terminal requires changing a color palette in 10 different places, with slightly different name/value conventions and syntax.
