  1. There really wouldn't be anything to "implement", it would simply be a matter of exposing what already exists to the public API. We can safely assume that demand for such functionality is not very high, so it is probably currently best that priorities are being kept on more important things. Not sure why you assume "will never come", save perhaps it made for a more interesting video title and an excuse to share some little-known feature of X11 xD
