They wouldn't have removed it if were just under consideration, full stop. I can't even envision a scenario where they haven't already entered into legal agreements with buyers of the data. Businesses simply don't make these kind of changes based on "well maybe someday in the future if the opportunity arises", especially when it obviously is going to have a negative impact on public perception.

@ I seen your replies to other comments, and have come to the conclusion that you are either a Mozilla employee or extremely naive.

@GrzesiekJedenastka "Do not currently" and "won't in the very near future" are extremely different things. The ToS doesn't even take effect until April. Check again at the beginning of May, it would be a safe bet to say you will be disappointed.

@GrzesiekJedenastka I am far more cynical, and always assume malice until otherwise proven to be incompetence. The often-repeated quote is completely backward, at least now as it applies in modernity.

They didn't, they just got pedantic about the terms as they apply in this exact moment time, with no promise or backtracking about anything going forward. The point is to try and maintain the users they have whom have a low-IQs or don't really pay attention. They hope to fool peoples' perceptions with "Mozilla explained that they don't sell data", and continue using it, completely unaware that statement will cease to be accurate come April when it goes into effect. Only a fool would believe they went through their entire repo removing any reference to not selling data just for fun, they obviously have explicit plans to do so in the near future. I would be astonished if they didn't already have contracts signed with the buyers.
