  1. Indeed, "love/hate" is a great way to describe it. I doubt there many people who even fully understand the entirety of the API, it is is akin to Xorg in that regard. In my experience, it is best just to focus in on trying to accomplish the specific task you need, it is too easy to get lost in the weeds unless you need to know it for your job, etc.
