  18. It is because Marxists never fully studied economics and just stick with a narrative that fits their priors. The whole “predatory pricing” thing is proof of this. Never happened in real life. The most extreme example of a monopoly from the free market was Standard Oil. It did not increase prices. If his theory were reality then they should have been able to do so, but they couldn’t because competition was always a factor and always is unless stopped by government.

Companies routinely have to sell at a loss when a product does not sell well. That is not predatory pricing. The predatory pricing myth claims that firms will undercut all competition, gain a monopoly, then jack up the price and not have any competition to counter this. The real world has not shown this at all. If a firm gets market share through lower prices to consumers they have to maintain that or they will lose market share.
