  1. The problem with the Hong Kong housing is due to the oligopoly that is being controlled by a few rich families in Hong Kong. They have pushed the prices so high that it is unaffordable. This is thanks to the British who sold extremely large amount of land to them just prior to the return of Hong Kong to the mainland. This problem is also then amplified by the policy of the Pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong too, these parties have been opposing several proposals by the Legistlative Council to ease the housing problem in Hong Kong. Their reason for protesting or opposing the proposals is that it is against the free market economy but actually it is causing more hardship on the citizens.
