What the Hong Kong Government need to do is to have a law that states if a developer has tendered this land it must develop this piece of land within 5 years. If this doesn’t happen then they must do a joint venture with the Government to develop this land failing which this land will be forfeited by the Government. This is easier said than done as the Opposition will never agree to this because they are handled by the rich land and development tycoons. They are also the people who have control over those house owners in Hong Kong who will also go against this as well. The reason that these house owners will go against having affordable housing is that this move will reduce their value of their houses in Hong Kong. Therefore the only way out for Hong Kong is to have the political will to have a hard handed approach to land management, which Hong Kong people cannot accept.

@ukrainews8247 you must be referring to the so called law where they say only Patriots can be allowed to stand for elections. LOL you have totally misunderstood the purpose and the spirit of this law. Let me ask you : 1. If you are Ukrainian as your name suggest, would you tolerate any member of Parliament who refuse to swear allegiance to Ukraine ? - Hong Kong had these kind of people now they are not allowed to run for election. 2. If you are Ukrainian would you tolerate any member of Parliament who goes overseas to ask for other foreign superpowers to sanction and attack Ukraine ? - Hong Kong still have these kind of people and now some are being charged in court whilst some of them has been let off with a fine or 1 week community service. 3. If you are Ukrainian would you tolerate any member of Parliament who would travel overseas and request foreign Government to invade and colonise Ukraine ? Hong Kong still have some of these people and some of them are now allowed to travel overseas to their patron countries and not allowed to come back to Hong Kong. Some of them are being tried in court. Some of them has ben charged and sentenced to jail but because they say that they want to continue their studies overseas they have been granted special leave to go overseas to continue their studies. 4. If you are Ukrainian, would you tolerate any member of Parliament who is also a citizen of another country, and after being elected in to power go all over the world to speak and just talk bad about Ukraine and keep asking other countries to boycott Ukraine ? Hong Kong has these kind of people and they have been charged in court but some of them decided not to go to court and go back to their other country to escape justice.

@Andrew-xw4zj You are correct. The Hong Kong Government had over 25 years to enact laws that were required and agreed upon for the return of Hong Kong to China. However, the rich elites who control the media twisted these proposed laws to create unrest and stop them for over 10 years. The reason being that these required laws that benefit the ordinary people do not benefit the Rich elite therefore they used media in their control to bluff the masses and push the masses out to protest against it.
