No Taiwanese do not get to decide. If it needs to be decided Taiwanese need to decide as a whole with the rest of China. I would only ask Taiwanese people one question. What is the value of an agreement to them ? If there is an agreement would this agreement need to be kept or the duties of each party need to be fulfilled . It’s just so simple.

@FusionEmpireX When unification happens nothing much will change with Taiwan. In Hong Kong the people got a lot more freedom and democracy as compared to what they had before their reunification with China. Only Western lead media and Apple Daily has been pushing propaganda that it is not. All statistics and reality shows that there is more democracy and more freedom in Hong Kong as compared to their colonial days.

@Anakborneo-nh7nh Taiwan has been offered a 1 country 2 system for reunification. There will be no change in the system in Taiwan. Just that they will not be having a President any more, they will have a Chief Executive or something similar. Nothing will change in terms of the daly lives of the people. Taiwan will probably have more freedom and democracy when they reunites with the Mainland..

@wheresmyeyebrow1608 if you follow the US Lead Propaganda machine that supplies news to 90% of the world media then you will believe that the Hong Kong People has a worse off system, If you analyse what actually happen you will realise that the People in Hong Kong now has a more structured system. If you compare this New System in Hong Kong you will realise that the New System in Hong Kong still more political freedom, more freedom of speech and expression, more freedom of movement that any system in the whole of Europe or North America. So rather than allow yourself to be brainwashed try to understand it first and then comment.

@sirius5159 Taiwan will only be unified by force if the DPP or the USA force the mainland to do so. Otherwise there will be no unification by force.

@francesco6017 those who refer to 2019 riots in Hong Kong as saying Hong Kong as no freedom and no freedom of speech do not know or understand what freedom is. As freedom is not absolute.

@DokiElysium You most probably have been influenced by Western Propaganda and do not know the truth. The facts are ; 1. Hong Kong never has more democracy now than in the past 150 years under British Rule. Did you know that the first election in Hong Kong was only held in 1991 and this was not even a full fledged election. 2. Hong Kong people do not know what is freedom of speech. Freedom of speech comes with it a responsibility, this responsibility means that if you spread lies and provoke terrorism you will have to bear responsibility for such consequences. The idea of freedom of speech of a Hong Konger means that they can say anything even to lie, liable or create tension, encourage terrorism must be acceptable without consequences. Which country in this world can accept such irresponsible speech? 3. The riots of 2019 in Hong Kong has nothing to do with freedom nor democracy. It is proven that these riots has been provoked and supported by 2 main parties and they are : a. CIA via the funds through the National Endowment for Democracy. If I remember correctly they poured in over USD 150 million just to create these riots. Several US Senators were on the ground in the riots to support these rioters. b. Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). Ms Tsai Ingwen has also sponsored millions of US dollars in to supporting these riots as part of the re-election campaign. The media in the West and Taiwan only showed one side of the story so that it makes the police and the Government Look like they are wrong. We all know what would happen when Taiwan is reunited with the mainland. Taiwan will basically run itself and they will still have total autonomy of everything that happens in Taiwan. The only difference is that Taiwan will no longer need to spend of defence, Taiwan will use the RMB and Taiwan's national security will be handled by the People's Liberation Army. If you don't know China has many Autonomous regions that run itself totally autonomously. What makes Taiwan so different that they cannot be able to run themselves? Taiwan has been doing the same thing for the past 70 years and nothing will change when the reunification happens.
