I don’t see what is wrong with a people’s representative to swear allegiance to the country and serve the people. What is so undemocratic about this ?

@Cosmo1093 the people of Hong Kong are too immature to know what is the democratic process, freedom and democracy. They need to be educated about this. Those rioters in 2019 has been demanding absolute freedom of speech and absolute freedom without the responsibility of the consequences of the law or their actions. This is not available in any country or territory around the world.

@andrewbirch you don't make any sense. Can the local councillor of a borough in London refuse to swear allegiance to the United Kingdom ? He or she has NO Bl**dy choice or if not he or she is automatically disqualified right ? What makes local councillors in Hong Kong any different ?
