  4. Let me explain it to you. In the 1940’s after WWII, China (which also include the island of Taiwan) was ruled by the Kuomintang Government sitting in Beijing. Then civil war struck between the Kuomintang and the CCP. Due to the corrupt nature and the tyrannical rule of the Kuomintang Government the people rose in support of the Communist CCP. So the CCP won the civil war until the Kuomintang retreated to the island of Taiwan. When the CCP gave chase to the Kuomintang towards the Taiwan island. The USA sent their best warships to stop the CCP from following the Kuomingtang. As the CCP soldiers only traveled on fishing boats at that time they were prevented from progressing and finishing the civil war, thanks to the USA intervention. The Kuomintang then set up Government in Taipei to rule over the whole of China from Taipei. The USA then supported the Chinese Government in Taiwan to secure their territory including the 11 dashed lines on the South China Sea. That was also when the USA started having military bases in Taiwan to help China to petrol their seas and keep the 11 dashed lines of the South China Sea safe. In 1971, the USA then switched recognition of the Chinese Government from Taipei to Beijing. In this Joint Comunique, the USA signed with the Chinese Government in Beijing to say that they no longer recognise the Chinese Government in Taiwan, the USA now only recognise that the Chinese Government sits in Beijing run by the CCP and that Taiwan is also a part of China. In consideration of that the USA will withdraw their troops from the Chinese island of Taiwan. Immediately after withdrawing the USA military bases in Taiwan, the USA Congress passed a law to say that the USA has a duty to protect Taiwan from China but Taiwan is a part of China. The USA then continued to patrol the South China Sea to help China keep her waters safe from Chinese Invasion. The Chinese Government in Beijing is recognised by all countries around the world except 12 small pacific island nations including Lithuania and the Vatican. The Chinese Government in Beijing is represented by all international organisations around the world politically or otherwise. Now US Senators are going there to Taiwan in support of Taiwan as an independent country but still recognizing Taiwan as part of China. The USA is trying to promote that there is only One China and that Taiwan is a part of China, but Taiwan is an independent country. Just like Texas is an independent country but Texas is a part of the USA.
