It is definitely better for Taiwan to reunify with the mainland as this would place Taiwan in a much better position on the international stage. The people of Taiwan will also enjoy a lot more freedom, advantages and benefits with unification than the status quo or worse independence.

The Hong Kong Protesters has been calling out for Hong Kong to be just like Singapore. Looking a the details of the laws and actions taken by the Singapore Government I can see it is Impossible for the Hong Kong Public as all the things that the Singaporean Government has been doing is what is all the Opposition politicians has been opposing for the past 23 years since the return of Hong Kong back to China.

@sxli3340 Taiwanese are Chinese like Cantonese, Shanghainese, and so on.
2
@0utd0wns0uth Hong Kong was Chinese, is Chinese and will always be Chinese. There is no such thing as Chinese invasion of Hong Kong as it doesn’t make any sense. Calling a Chinese Invasion of Hong Kong is like an English Invasion of London, does it make any sense ?

@dylanshaffer2184 First of all what makes you think that reunification will reduce the amount of freedom for the people of Taiwan than what they are currently enjoying? I know it will be much better for the people of Taiwan to reunify with China. Reunification with the mainland will definitely guarantee the freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom to live as a free person rather than being in this authoritarian regime dictated by their US Masters. At least the people of Taiwan will no longer be brainwashed any more. Reunification will also allow Taiwanese to be able to associate themselves with the rest of the world. They will no longer be living in an ambiguity. This will then allow their economy to really thrive and prosper. Reunification with the mainland will also allow Taiwanese to develop in all sectors including science technology, culturally, and in every other form that they currently is not able to do so. Being Taiwanese is also being Chinese as Taiwanese are Chinese no matter where Taiwanese are. Landing foreign troops on Taiwan soil is considered an invasion and if the USA do land their troops on Taiwanese soil I hope that the world will also land missiles in Washington DC. EU, Russia, China and the rest of the world has a duty to attack the USA should the USA ever dare to land their troops on Taiwanese soil ! ! !
1
@dylanshaffer2184 The Mariana islands are in a way US territory and no body is going to ever claim it. What are you babbling about ?
1
@dylanshaffer2184 First of all you need to get your facts right. Hong Kong is a lot more free than the USA. There has been no such stripping of the freedom of the people of Hong Kong by anyone or any authorities. People in Xinjiang are only living in camps in the imagination of the people of the United States of America and the United Kingdom because they have decided to be brainwashed with lies told by one man called Adrian Zenz. There has been no evidence to prove any of these lives and will never be as it is truly a lie. Taiwan is not a thriving democracy, it is a failed democracy as you can see that the system in Taiwan is failing and there is no freedom in Taiwan. The people of Taiwan are controlled by their Government for what they think, do and say. All Taiwanese media is Government controlled and the media is just as censored as those in the USA. The Taiwanese Government also denying it’s citizens of higher wages and a better standard of living by going to work on the mainland. Taiwan is recognised by the whole world as an integral part of China and that there is only one China. Should the United States of America land any troops on Taiwanese soil the Unite Kingdom, European Union, Russia, ASEAN and also Australisia has the moral obligation to expel the invading American Troops. This cannot be denied. So USA come at your own peril ! ! !

@dylanshaffer2184 you must understand that China has shown for more than a millennia that it has no intention of expansion. Why would China want to control another island chain ? It has been proven time and again that china has no such ambition and that China only seeks to trade. I understand that this is a very difficult concept for the West especially the USA to understand and accept as it is totally opposite from what the USA’s culture and line of thought has been over the last 200 years. This is a totally foreign concept to what the Europeans are used to, China has no such ambition to expand, she just wants peaceful co-existence with the rest of the world.

@dylanshaffer2184 LOL it’s time to remove your blinkers. Taiwan like the USA is one of the most controlled or brainwashed society in the world. Taipei is far from being a booming metropolis especially if you compare it with cities on the mainland, Taipei is merely a small village in the backwaters of China. Hong Kong has recently restored it’s peace and freedom contrary to what USA controlled media would like you to know. Now there is more freedom and peace in Hong Kong and people can now express what they feel and what they think unlike in 2019 when people are only allowed to be anti-Government if you were not Anti-Government you will be bludgeoned until you agree that the Government is bad. Otherwise they will kill you if you do not agree to be anti-Government. Contrary to your belief the United States of America actually declared that they recognise that Taiwan is an integral part of China. The United States of America also have agreed to recognise that there is only One China with it’s capital in Beijing. The EU, ASEAN, Britain and Australiasia has the Moral Duty to defend China from the Aggressive Attack and invasion of China’s Taiwan by the United States of America. The only difference is that the Australians and the British may not have the intelligence to do what is right. Of course there is censorship in the USA if not you will not be saying what you are saying now. There is plenty of censorship in the USA and the bigger evil is that you are not allowed to know that there is censorship in the USA. Do you know that there are many articles, TV programs and News that are deliberately taken off the air in the USA because it projects a positive light about China ? No you don’t know because it is censored. Do you also know about the social credit score system that is currently being practiced in the United States of America? Do you also know that the Social Credit Score system practiced in the USA has been in place for over half a century ? Do you know that you are not allowed to know what your social credit score is in the USA? There is also no way for you to repair your social credit score in the USA too. At least in China, you are allowed to know what your social credit score is and you can repair it. Isn’t this kind of transparency more important ? Doesn’t this kind of transparency give you more freedom to control your own life and your own destiny? It’s really time for you to remove your blinkers to see the real world and not to be continually brainwashed by the USA Propaganda machinery.
1
@angrydragon4574 so you would rather Taiwan to be the ATM for the USA to get free money than to be a legitimate part of a country ? How very interesting ?
1
@randyross5630 LOL call a spade a spade will you… Taiwan is nothing but an ATM for the USA and that’s it. The USA is only milking Taiwan for money they need to pay the Billionaires in the USA.
1
@dylanshaffer2184 so you are saying the citizens of Taiwan would rather be a slave for the USA ? They work their buts out to be an ATM for the USA. LOL
1
@dylanshaffer2184 they are in a way slaves to the USA because whatever they earn will be sponged up by the multi-billionaire of Wall Street and the USA’s military complex. Not like they are going to be forced to do work that they are not happy doing like in the USA. More like working your heart out and earn everything and these money will be taken from them.
1
@tonyko_u1s1 well definitely peaceful reunification is more important Thant reunification by force. I do hope this will happen soon. This reunification will be good not only for Taiwan and mainland China but also for ASEAN and the rest of the world too.
1
@dylanshaffer2184 LOL which part of China is not a free market economy ? Do you really know what you are talking about ?

Jonathan Williams Hong Kongers will Never be able to accept these kind of housing policies and it is evident that the opposition leaders in Hong Kong has been protesting and opposing any forms of reforms to move Hong Kong towards this kind of home ownership in Hong Kong. The methods employed by Singapore is too authoritarian to be remotely acceptable by Hong Kongers.
1
Kin Fong Yeung No the main housing problem stems from the colonial era and it’s policies. Let me tell you why: 1. The tax structure of Hong Kong is too low and it will not be able to support it’s infrastructures and social services. The only thing funding these is the fact that the Hong Kong Government must sell land to the highest bidder and this is controlled by a few families in Hong Kong. The other factor funding these infrastructures in Hong Kong is the subsidies from the Chinese Communist Party. 2. The land usage policies in Singapore were very effective as it allows the HDB to have a far reach to what they deem necessary so as to allow the use of land for public good. This is totally not acceptable by Hong Kong Standards as it is against the philosophy of the Free Market Economy that Hong Kong treasures so much and what the Hong Kong opposition politicians has been using as an excuse to bring down any development plans by the ruling Hong Kong Government. 3. Hong Kongers will Never be able to accept a higher income tax bracket as they are so engrained in to their minds that this is the best for them. The restructuring of the Hong Kong income tax structure will be met with too much resistance from not only the opposition politicians but also the rich elites and also the urban poor of Hong Kong too. These are the few things that I can see are major obstacles that the Hong Kong governments will not be able to overcome or it may take decades to overcome to achieve what Singapore has. The only way that this can be used to resolve the Hong Kong Crisis would be the acceptance of Hong Kong that they are more integrated in to Mainland laws and system Then this would be able to be done for the benefits of the Hong Kong people. otherwise it will forever remain as it is, just a dream.
1
Sam. S if you are from Hong Kong you seem to be totally blind.
1
Jonathan Williams a lot of people still living in Hong Kong and do not want to move to the mainland for more opportunities because they have no idea about what is happening there in the Mainland and do not want to look at what is happening there for they are afraid that they may change their minds that whatever is happening in the mainland of China may not be totally horrible nor totalitarian nor restrictions of any religion nor any of those organ harvesting fake news all over the media in Hong Kong.
1
Jonathan Williams China is only not free in the eyes of the Western media. However the in the eyes of the people of china they are happy and free.
1
@SW-8228 Well you will always be a Chinese no matter where you are. Don’t be an ignorant Chinese be one who is knowledgeable and proud of not only your heritage but also be the best that you can be. There are plenty of opportunities for you within the Greater Bay Area and the rest of China that is where the whole world will be looking at for the next 50 years for sure.
1
@adahymoore8630 well said. Just that many young Hong Kong people are quite brainwashed by the media which is only anti-China and they know nothing about China even though they are Chinese citizens.
1
@clyshamo don’t you think it is time for Hong Kongers to learn the national language ? You mean there is no such thing as an election in Hong Kong ? Are you MAD or CRAZY or DELUSIONAL ?
1
@mmmk6322 well the other thing is that the British has less freedom and democracy than the people in Hong Kong. So why would you scream for democracy and give up your rights by going to Britain?
1
@merkymurk7534 Please find a little time to learn about Hong Kong, it’s history and it’s people. Hong Kong was one of the most dangerous cities in Asia all the way until the mid 1980’s. It was ridden in crime, corruption and poverty. The people are hard working and smart. However they are not very well trained or educated. When China started opening up, Hong Kong became the gateway to do business in or with China. That was when Hong Kong started to thrive and become more wealthy. Hong Kong due to the opening up of China mainly Shenzhen became an economic miracle and an Asian tiger. Now Hong Kong is no longer the Gateway to doing business in China they are no longer as important economically as compared to it’s hey days in the 1980’s and 19990’s. Hong Kong has always been a very capitalist society since the British colonial days. It has the lowest tax and the most free economy in the world. In fact more free as compared to the USA and the UK too. That is why capitalism has thrived and those who made it are really very rich. In a purely capitalist society the rich will be able to control not only the whole economy but also the Government too. That is why the social elites in Hong Kong who controls the whole market especially the property market makes the real estate prices of Hong Kong so high and unaffordable to the local population. In every purely capitalist society, the gap between the rich and poor is very wide. That is why you will see huge dissatisfaction amongst it’s population. When the middle class grow’s and see these inequitable distribution of wealth there will be protests on the streets just like that, that has been happening in Hong Kong for the past 2 years. These protests has been fuelled and financed by the CIA to destabilise China as Hong Kong and Taiwan are the last few remaining pawns that the CIA can use to destabilise China and have full control over the development of china. In this way Corporate America will continue to tap in to cheap labour in China so that they can maximise their profits. These profits will then be brought to tax havens and will never benefit the people of the USA.
1
@0utd0wns0uth It’s time to stop your colonialism mind set and come back to the 21st Century. Hong Kong has been returned to China in 1997 and there is nothing you can do or say about it. it is China and that is a FACT ! ! ! So stop re-colonising Hong Kong.
