The world of Geopolitics looks at benefits. When you recognize the 1.4 billion people on the Mainland China you will include the 22 million on the Taiwanese island. When you only recognize the 22 million people in the Taiwanese island you will exclude the 1.4 billion people on the mainland. In terms of market to sell to, you have a choice of 1.4 billion + 22 million or just 22 million. In terms of innovation, technological development Taiwan is nothing compared to the advancements in the mainland. The only advantage that Taiwan has over the mainland is that their ability to produce better chips for the world. Other than that, everything else is better from the mainland. In terms of money, finance and banking. The innovation and the power of the banks and finance from the mainland has already made Taiwanese insignificant. You can choose which you want to lean towards. Ultimately when you work with and stand with the mainland you will also get the benefits from working with Taiwan not the other way around.

@jaredgarbo3679 no China only has about 600+ nuclear warheads as compared to the 5,000+ nuclear warheads of the USA. Yet the USA is trying to ask China to destroy it’s nuclear warheads for security reasons. The USA is trying to bully China like how they bullied the EU and Russia.

@COYS-o2i no when there is a war the whole world will be wiped out. This is because China is also a nuclear power and will use their nuclear bomb when the USA attack Taiwan. Then the whole word will be wiped out due to the impending 10 year nuclear winter after the nuclear war.

@COYS-o2i You can keep on this rhetoric unfortunately the international laws and definitions do not recognize Taiwan as an independent country as it has no sovereignty. Taiwan has ceased to be the legitimate Government of all of China in 1972, it’s time to update your information.

Taiwan is a sleepy small village in the back waters as compared to the tier two cities of the mainland. This is also with the help of Mainland China. How well has Taiwan done without the help of the Mainland Chinese ?

Correction. If only the USA did not pour hundreds of millions of USD in to these countries annually to brainwash the young Hong Kongers and Taiwanese then these young minds would have been won over. Sadly this is the part that Mainland China has not done or invested in at all.

@RM-el3gw Just because Taiwan is a part of China, all exports going from Taiwan in to the mainland is not taxed. They are also given special preferences to enter the mainland market. Taiwanese goods though more expensive than locally produced good from other parts of the country are generally accepted and supported for the only reason that the Chinese Government is encouraging the people to help the Taiwanese economy. Take for example the Taiwanese pineapples that recently has a big fiasco. Pineapples from Taiwan are of a lower quality as compared to the pineapples from Hainan and Guangzhou province, they however are still selling well on the mainland even though it is more expensive as compared to those from these other provinces. The people on mainland China would rather buy Taiwanese than those from other countries even though it is more expensive. On the other hand, the mainland also encourage travel and the tourist dollars to flow towards Taiwan by making it easier for the mainland people to go to Taiwan. However since Ms Tsai has taken over power, this has dwindled to a low level as she keep talking about Taiwan independence.

@tjmarx the people of Taiwan migrated from China mainland long before it was even called Formosa. Then more natives from mainland China, migrated over during the Ming Dynasty. Then later the Dutch colonized part of Taiwan and called it Formosa. They were then chased out. The last mass migration of people came to Taiwan from Mainland China in 1947 when the KMT lost in the civil war. The USA sent their superior Army and war ships to help the KMT secure Taiwan from falling to the Communist forces. Without the USA intervention, Taiwan would be under the rule of the Communist Party. Nevertheless, Taiwan was part of China and under the control of Beijing before the fall of the KMT Regime. The constitution of Taiwan still say that it is part of China and is under the control of the Chinese Government. The USA is now trying to legitimize the Taiwanese Regime based in Taipei and promote Taiwan’s independence.

@curtmayer1070 I believe that is true that china has bought a lot of politicians worldwide. It’s pretty normal actually, don’t think that the USA or UK or EU are saints either. They too have also bought many politicians worldwide too. The USA has it well documented and you can see it on the internet.

@curtmayer1070 yes, China has some nuclear weapons, most probably overestimated. That doesn’t mean that we should head towards a nuclear war. If the USA is really looking for a nuclear war let’s have it on US Soil and before that please build 20KM high walls around the USA first. Don’t kill the rest of us innocent people around the world.

@seanchernov7178 Taiwan has no evidence of any independent country. Taiwan has no Sovereignty No body recognizes Taiwan as a country. Taiwan’s Constitution states that Taiwan is a part of China.
