Mike Shoults Stop your ignorance, Hong Kong has always been part of China and it was forcibly ceded by the British to sell drugs to China for over 100 years. It is time that the lease is over and that Britain did the honorable thing to return Hong Kong to China.

Taiwan was already practicing the One Country Two Systems before the DPP Took power. Taiwan was flourishing and since the DPP took power instigating independence, then you see the continuos decline of the Taiwanese economy and lifestyle of the people.

@PeterC850 because the Kuomingtang has already been practicing the one Country two system with China when they were ruling Taiwan. Are you sure that the Taiwanese economy has improved since Tsai Ing-wen took over? Please check your statistics again, it seems to have been dropping every since she took over.

@PeterC850 before I forget, if relations has been normalised with the mainland, there will be much more investment and money flowing both ways. Taiwan will still be able to elect your own president, she and her elected representatives will then sit in the Central People's Council and everything in Taiwan will just go on without anyone even noticing it. Well perhaps there will be an additional flag, and the uniforms of the police will possibly change or just change the police badge just like in Hong Kong. That's it that is how the one Country two system is supposed to work. Mainland will provide the military protection to Taiwan and that's it. Hopefully with the influence of the mainland, they will also encourage that all the minority tribes be able to learn their own language and practises in schools too. Something that the current Taiwanese Government don't do at the moment.
