  1. I'm sure you'll have no trouble in bear country with this with you. However, wouldn't a bear load in 200 grains for a .357 Smith & Wesson 686 Plus do the trick in a bear encounter? Given that the Redhawk is not that comfortable to shoot (plus the ammo is around $3 each), it sounds like this gun is not really worth buying. I must admit, even the hotter loads for a .357, it is not the most pleasant to shoot. I can only imagine how much more unpleasant the .454 round is by comparison.
