  2.  @TedwardDrives  I don't doubt it. They even put 3.8 Buick V-6 motors in some of them as well (think of the Firebird esprit). It just takes some of the fun out of being a Pontiac fan. Yes, by the early 1980s, the Pontiac 301 was trying to turn heads with only 135 hp. Sadly, the writing was on the wall for Pontiac way before 2009. The last Firebirds were just re-skinned Chevys. I had a 1978 Firebird Formula with the 400 under the hood. That was a fun car to drive. Pretty soon, GM was putting 403 Olds motors in them for California emissions compliance factors. And if I recall correctly, by the mid-1980s, Pontiac was making 4-cylinder motors. With Buick motors going into the Grand Prix's, and Chevy 305s and 350s going into the Firebird lineups.
