  1. I too had a neighbor during the 1970s that had served in Rommel's Africa Corps as a sapper for the German army. He was captured in Africa, spent the remainder of the war in a POW camp in the U.S., and then became a citizen here in Ohio.

  2. The German Army itself was no slouch when it came to being an effective and aggressive military machine. Sure, some of the manpower towards the end of the war seems to have tarnished the Blitzkrieg imagine of the German Army from 1940. Nevertheless, let us not forget about the Brandenburgers.
